All classes have 2 scheduled classes of PE which everyone is expected to participate in as well as regular fitness sessions. Swimming in our school pool happens during scheduled PE times in Term 1 and Term 4.
SBS are held 3 times a week during sports break and are a combination of inter-class competition and trying new sports and meeting new people.
We compete in a variety of codes over the year, all students are eligible to trial for teams. Trials are announced through our daily notices, so students need to make sure they keep up to date with announcements. Some of these competitions are seasonal and teams compete outside of school hours and other sports are one-day competitions during school time against other Waikato Intermediate Schools.
We select a team of approximately 38 students to compete at a week-long competition at Totara Springs in Term 3. Team members are selected based on skill, attitude and teamwork, as they must compete in over 20 various sporting codes. There is a cost to attending the camp that families are responsible for.
The AIMS Games are held in Term 3 in Tauranga in a variety of team and individual sports. Maeroa Intermediate sends competitive teams that are subject to the teams' current performance and will support individual entries that meet the entry criteria set by AIMS NZ. There is a cost to attending the games that families are responsible for.
